Emailblog.eu turns two – a flashback on email marketing developments

Exactly two years ago I started Emailblog.eu to have a personal email marketing blog in English. I was already writing for a Dutch version of the blog back then, but I felt an international version was needed. The past year went by fast: I can remember the previous celebration when Emailblog.eu turned 1 like it was yesterday.

The number: 243.

Writing about email marketing, be it news, insights, designs or anything else is what I like to do. Including this post there has been a total of 243 posts published since the start on August 31st, 2010: quite a number if I say so myself – I’m surprised about how much it all is! A recent highlight has been the email marketing design week back in early July. See all the posts that were part of that here. Read more

Emailblog.eu site redesign launched!

After a bit over a year and a half with the original design, it was time to give the Emailblog.eu website a fresh new design and logo. The old layout was getting a bit…old, so to speak, and a new design was in the works for a while. After launching the new logo on the various social networks, today marks the official launch of the site redesign.

This is the new logo for those who have missed it:

We are working on much more than just the site and logo redesign behind the scenes: stay tuned for that. One hint: we will be launching our very own newsletter soon, so be sure to subscribe to be the first to get all the hot email marketing news!

Currently the new theme should be working fine in current browsers (including mobile) and if you notice any glitches or such, let us know in the comments.

For now, thanks for being with us, and we hope to have you coming back for many more posts on email marketing designs, insights, news and interviews!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Emailblog.eu!

Just like last year, I took the liberty to photograph my cat Pumba (he can be a monster sometimes) for our digital holiday wishes card. Here it is (click for full size):

Put in a little mouse and Christmas dog and a tree as backdrop and voila: great digital holiday wishes card.

This time, I shall not be listing people to thank for everything they’ve meant to me these past 12 months: there’s just too many of you! Let’s just say that I’m happy to be part of the email marketing community – it really is the cool club.

I do want to thank the few of you whom I’ve been finally able to meet in person, however brief those meetings were.

Loren McDonald, thanks for the chat and discussions at the dinner in Amsterdam. Ryan Phelan: very nice meeting you, we definitely had some great laughs! Jim Ducharme, we met in March: great to talk to you and experience the event together. Andrew Kordek – our meeting was sadly short but still great: it was amazing to see you so pumped up after being up for so long! Last but not least, Justine Jordan. Being your tour guide in Amsterdam was good fun (hope I did well…) and settling down on the square with some drinks and nice weather was awesome. Great talks about our fun and frustrations with email ;)

Thank you! And to the others in the email marketing community: maybe we’ll meet in 2012 :)

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2012!

Cheers,

Remy

Celebrating one year of Emailblog.eu

Launching on August 31st, 2010 Emailblog.eu was meant to be ‘my own place online’ to write about stuff related to email. One year later and it’s time to celebrate!

July 26th, 2011: Emailblog.eu joins Facebook
August 10th, 2011: 250,000 total pageviews reached
August 31st, 2011: One year of Emailblog.eu

One year on and a total of 132 posts have been published including this one: quite a lot! During this period I got in touch with many email geeks (and even met a few in person, which is great) and learned a lot from discussions we had and tips they shared. In this ever changing world life is never boring, so keeping up is important and I’m glad I have this blog to share my thoughts on subjects and show some nice designs in the Email Winners section.

I’d like to use this post to thank those who have contributed either directly or indirectly to Emailblog.eu: either by sharing posts, giving inspiration for posts, commenting, anything: you have helped grow this blog to where it’s at now, so thanks! There’s too many of you to name you all, but you know who you are ;)

Lastly, the future of Emailblog.eu will include going back to the more structured three-post-a-week schedule, and very probably a site design change. Currently two designs are fighting for attention and one of them will win: the new design will then be launched.

Second lastly: Mark Brownlow of Email Marketing Reports suggested on Google+ that I post something about what’s hot in email marketing right now, and what I think should be hot in email marketing: that post is in the works and should follow later this week :)

Onwards to another year of Emailblog.eu!
